Prof. Dr. Milton Biswas is a distinguished Bangladeshi academic, literary scholar, and intellectual activist known for his contributions to minority studies, interfaith dialogue, and cultural history. He earned his M.Phil. (1999) and Ph.D. (2007) in Bengali literature from the University of Dhaka, focusing on modern poetic philosophy and subaltern consciousness in Bengali fiction.
He began his academic career at the University of Chittagong and later served as Head of the Department of Bengali at Jagannath University, where he promoted research-driven teaching and interdisciplinary literary studies. His scholarship highlights the historical and cultural contributions of the Christian community to Bangladesh’s national development and pluralistic identity.
As Secretary of the Ecumenical Christian Trust (ECT), Dr. Biswas has worked to foster unity among Christian denominations and to advance social programs in education, healthcare, and legal awareness. His global leadership perspective is strengthened by a 25-day leadership training at the Haggai International Institute, Maui, Hawaii (USA) and participation in ecumenical seminars across Asia and Europe.
A prolific columnist and public intellectual, he has authored numerous books and articles on literature, history, and human rights. His research and publications have received international recognition and contribute to promoting intercultural understanding and democratic inclusion.
